Going Green With E Through a new partnership with ecotourism operator Manaca (www.manaca.com), E: The Environmental Magazine is able to offer its first-ever environmental travel opportunity, a 13-day visit to Europe guided by E Editor Jim Motavalli. While there will be plenty of opportunity to relax and sight-see, the theme of the trip (including visits to England, France, Austria and Germany) is green transportation and new urbanism, based on Motavalli’s new book, Breaking Gridlock: Moving Toward Transportation That Works (Sierra Club Books). Between September 21 and October 2, we will meet with environmental leaders, visit car-free green cities and national parks, travel on ultra-fast European trains and enjoy a rich dialogue about sustainable living. The total cost of the trip, including local airfares, accommodations, local transportation and most meals, is $2,605, double occupancy. Other opportunities are also available through the E/Manaca partnership, with dates to be determined: A 10-day “Best of Panama” tour; a 10-day visit to eastern Jamaica; a 12-day Kenyan safari concentrating on women’s issues; a 10-day Jane Goodall camping safari, also in Kenya; an 11-day “odyssey” through the Galapagos and Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest; and a 10-day adventure viewing gray whales and desert trekking in Baja California. For more information about all these trips, call (866) 3-MANACA or visit E’s website at www.emagazine.com.
